The obscured crime of wise Pinoys

More and more Filipinos now know Internet. As the increase has continue to persist, the sad part is that, not everybody gets access. The culprit: Internet is expensive.

As the rival telecom companies never come to terms to improve the internet speed in the country as well as to minimize its cost, ordinary and wise Filipinos come to an option: to bug and hack for free or low cost internet connection.

How does it take place? In Facebook group such as ALAMAT NG FREENET, "hackers" and "buggers" were two operational terms used to refer the persons who find ways to gain free or low cost internet access. Although these entities were quite synonymous, they differ somewhat when it comes to their ways in gaining free access.

Buggers are those who find any technical glitches to a telecom company promos. To bug, a bugger undergone arduous process of “trial and error” and patient and spend little amount of money. A bugger may buy a SIM, then follow a simple trick such as registering to the different text, voice or surf promos at a time, then text a certain word to a service number, restart the phone, then immediately may enjoy free surfing which is low cost - in some cases with long expiration.

Hackers are those who get an internet access through developing or manipulating a certain program, install it on a device, then run it to gain internet access. Examples involve cracked Psiphon, Free VPN, and Black Lantern. Hacking is illegal. But there are so many ways to hide your visibility while browsing illegally.

“Illegal free internet” has been one of the reasons why Facebook accounts with fake names mushroomed over the Internet. These fake Facebook accounts were used to feel secure while public conversations take place in Facebook groups about the recent hows of bugging and hacking. This medium became popular as forum sites such as PHCorner.com outside Facebook were unaccessible when you have only using free data with Internet.org. Most popular Facebook groups in hacking and bugging include ALAMAT NG FREENET, GLOBE BUGGERS and RRR INFOTECH.

Buggers and hackers unite all over the Philippines in web and independently explore for any promo glitch. When found it works, they broadcast it to these popular Facebook groups for the benefit of all.

“Sharing” has been the foundation why these certain group page of hackers and buggers exist while its weakness is “disloyalty of members”. Disloyal members are those who tap telco companies to report the discovered promo glitches and cracked applications before it widely spread.

If you are updated with bugging and hacking, I would say that you may save a lot of money. Therefore, we can say that the competition today is not just between rival telco companies but it is also between telco companies and smart consumers who illegaly use their internet services.

The slowest of the slowest: The timeline of our struggle for the Internet

The Philippines has the slowest Internet speed among countries of Asia Pacific. With a miserable average speed of 3.7mbps, this clumsy speed has already fed us ontime information and get every Filipino on a bandwagon of democratic voices through social media participation. But if this average speed is already “slow” for us, how much more few years ago when we were yet in a glint of using the Internet.

Years ago when most of us distantly communicate through text with GSM phones, internet capable Android and iOS which today we mostly use were not yet widely introduce to buyers in our country—in fact, we only have Java and Symbian operating systems. Perhaps that time, using SMS and voice call as our way of communicating distantly were enough.

Most of us knew Nokia, a cellphone company which was popular that time. Most of us was already stunned on the phone’s ability to transmit message from one phone to another. But one day, when we demanded a more sophisticated communication and information medium, we were given 2G (second generation)—a kind of network which can transmit data over the internet.

2G is a slow network but it gave us a huge light of seeing the world virtually. Its speed ranges 1-100kbps. Besides slow, it was also costly. That time, our telecommunication companies charged us according to the minutes we spent in the Internet. Perhaps, they never offer any unlimited or bulk (per kilobyte) data allocation then. But even it was slow and costly, we were patient enough and spend lot for it because that time it was new.

I was in high school when I learned how to browse the Internet over my phone. What is internet that time?! Not everyone gets access into it compared today. Just to gain access, since I was a prepaid user, I have to top-up a worth 15 peso load in the near Sari-sari store for a gawky 2G internet connection for 45 minutes. I thought, that was already fast until I knew 3G.

3G and DSL brought us a huge change when it comes to our Internet delight. Good quality videos on video-sharing sites such as YouTube buffers faster as before. Unlimited and bulk internet promos were made. Internet cafes thrived in the cities as telecom companies have their enhancements in their cell towers. Because of this innovation, we go with the trail of social media engagement.

We first know Friendster before Facebook have gained an Internet popularity. Since only the NCR and other major cities have first gained access into a ‘faster’ internet, most of the people who reside in the city had their accounts in social media while we in the province were a bit unacquainted in it—not until foreign cellphone companies unfold their businesses in the country.

Android phones then became popular and affordable to every Filipino. We thank for it because even its low-end models are already data and wifi capable—making connections to ‘information superhighways’ easier and possible for usual users.

Our lifestyle then associated with ‘sharing’ where almost all of our actions and sentiments were broadcasted in the Internet. Consequently, cybercrime occurred, students learned to plagiarize through search engines and youth became isolated in their homes.

Our ISPs (internet service providers) then gave us 4G (fourth generation) and LTE (long term evolution) which assured us an internet speed of upto 42 mbps. But this lame promotion disgusted us because the internet speed was still out of what was disclosed.

Because more users engaged with the internet, our ISPs then implemented ‘data throttling’, the term they use for limiting the users data usage according to what was stated in their ‘fair use and policy’. This created a huge outrage among netizens—calling ‘unlimited promo’ as a big lie.

As our struggle for a speedy internet continues, we still gained groundbreaking records in the Internet. We were dubbed as selfie and social media capital of the world and the holder of the most tweeted hashtag in Twitter through AlDub.

Beyond the records we gained and internet speed we have today, we are a bit far than yesterday. But, we cannot deny the fact that behind the evolution of the country’s internet speed, we are still very late when it comes to the race for faster internet speed in the world.

The Journey of a Child Who Has Dyslexia

"A Summary and Opinion Upon Watching Every Child is Special"

He stood up in the corner – sad. He sat down in the corner – alone. He was a loner with imaginative cognition; a creative with few exceptions; and a child who, in the present world, unordinary. He persevered in order to learn, but his perseverance has nothing help because of his specialty of having dyslexia – a serious illness that involves an impairment of reading words.

Ishaan Awashti was an 8 year old who tended to be alone while creating his own world by the aid of his own imaginative concept. He was a truant child—hated schooling. Consequently, it made him getting a very low academic performance. He failed because he is in a daydreaming while in class. He always got failing grade during his examination which made him to skip class and let his feet bring him whereever he want.

His life was never easy. His emotional plight does not only end at school. At home, his harsh and strict father, Nandkishore Awashti, was always scolding him because of his performance. His unrecognized dyslexia was very desperate at his age.

Yohaan, his brother, excels in academic performance and also in sports. While his brother possessed a superior talent in any field, Ishaan is differing from him. And this might be the cause why his father is frustrated since Ishaan cannot run through with what his brother have.

Maya, Ishaan’s mother, despite of losing patience in reprimanding his child never lose of giving her child’s daily needs. But this had ended after the decision that also squeezed my heart – when Ishaan left their home and sent to an exclusive school for children with special disability.

“The letters are dancing,” Ishaan said when his teacher told him to read the words that was written on the board. But instead of understanding his unrecognized condition, he was ridiculed. I ask myself if how many teachers in the world was like of Ishaan’s?

Having dyslexia was very pathetic instance, especially if it is like in Ishaan’s case that it was unrecognized. Your family hates you of how you behave, your academic performance is not good, you are mocked because of your specialty, you are never given much attention because your talents are covert by discriminationand nothing listens you.

Ishaan was sent at a special school because he always repeats in grade level. There, he undergone in special education services to correct his behavioral problem. Ishaan become much lonely, missing his family who left him. He was far from his family, making me to reflect that what if I am in his condition. Ishaan’s character depicted the real scenario that sometimes parents are losing responsibility in modifying their child’s special needs. “Family is a minute form of community,” tells us that our family should be the one who first help one of their members if there is a problem. But, I felt sad that Ishaan’s father, and even his mother, had never allowed their child to explain what pains was inside him, what obstructions is on him and why he cannot be a child what his father want to be.

In the school offering special education, Ishaan met Ran Shankar Nikumbh, his art teacher. Thanks to Mr. Nikumbh! The rail of Ishaan’s journey had been given answer after all. Nikumbh was able to understand him and taught him to be strong.

Nikumbh discovered the clandestine talent of Ishaan. He realized that Ishaan’s case must be given much attention to optimize his talents and skills. As I have remembered what Professor Penson had told us before, “there is nothing problem child, but the child might have just a problem”. This is a philosophy that the “Every Child is Special” proved. Furthermore, there is nothing time that a child will become a problem in class, but instead the child should be assisted to escape his problem if there is.

Nikumbh organized an art fair before the school year ended. He invited the parents and all of the students of the school to join the fair, nothing are exempted. Even Nikumbh joined the fair on which he won as runner-up in painting Ishaan’s portrait. Amazingly, Ishaan won in the art fair in which his entry depicts the alone child sitting in the river shore – he beat his father’s art entry.

This movie is an eye-opener in order to wake the viewers to always listen before they judge; to make them realize that God vested us a unique talent individually; and to make us to think, as a future educator, before concluding if our children are bastard. Impaired, normal, abnormal or disable, we are all equal in the face of God. He created us without mistakes and the vested knowledge that we have should allow us to discover what unique talent we have.

Pabor ka ba na itatag ulit ang base militar ng Amerika sa bansa?

Ano nga ba ang naging dahilan ng pag-alis ng mga sundalong puti sa Olongapo ilang taon na ang nakalipas? Ito ba ay dahil upang iligtas ang mga kababaihang nakikipaglaro sa apoy kasama ang mga sundalong bumaboy sa mga bayarang Pinay noon? Kung ating babalikan ang nakalipas, isang bangungot na hindi na mabura sa aking isip ang naging estado ng mga Pinay noon na pawang naging mga Magdalenang mababa ang lipad.

Ngayon at malaki na rin ang tensyong kinasasangkutan ng Pilipinas, kasama rito ang isyu ukol sa agawan ng Baso de Masinloc o Scarborough Shoal na tunay ngang pag-aari ng Pilipinas batay sa Presidential Decree 1596 ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos noong June 11, 1978 at pagkapatay ng isang mangingisdang Taiwanese nang mabaril ng isa coast guard, dapat na tayong mabahala. Kaugnay rito, isinaulat ng isang Chinese media kamakailan lamang na magkakaroon daw ang bansang Tsina ng 'counterstrike' sa Pinas upang ipaglaban ang Scarborough Shoal laban sa atin.

Ang bansang Tsina ay tinaguriang 'The Sleeping Giant', isang depiksyon ng pagiging makapangyarihan nilang durugin ang anomang bansang kakalaban sa kanila. Kaya nga, tayo ay nanganganib sapagkat wala tayong sapat na kagamitang militar upang ipagtanggol ang ating bayan kung mangyari man.

Kailangan nating ng tulong ng Amerika. Kailangan natin sila sa pagprotekta sa ating bayang lubos ngang hindi parin masasabing independente. Pero sa pagpasok ng mga Amerikano sa bansa, dapat muna nating tukuyin kung saang lugar sila mamamalagi. Malapit ba ito sa mamamayang Pinoy? May sapat na trabaho ba ang mga tao sa lugar na ito? Sinasabi ko ito bagkus baka madungisan na naman ang mga budhi ng mga kababaihang gagawing pagkaperahan ang dagliang kaligayahang iaalok sa kanila ng mga puti. Bigyan muna ng sapat na trabaho ang mga Pinay, ang mga taong naroron sa kalalagyan ng base, upang lubos ngang pagprotekta lang sa Pinas ang gagampanan ng mga kano at hindi ang protitusyong matagal nang problema ng lipunan.

Paroxysm to Filipino Native Games

Summer, on my childhood, was the most auspicious time I treasured. The thorns that brought by a weary schooling had been clutch over my taut head filled with school lessons. The calluses on my feet in walking from house to school, vice-versa, which today I cannot imagine that I have choked that trial, had been eradicated by the joy of being emancipated. And, the numerical problems that flew over my pivoting eyes had been hurled by the wind brought by my run of independence.

Piko, pikyaw, taksi, teks, the ubiquitous tagu-taguan and other native games completed my every day in summer. It healed my somnolent body and lubricated my muscled rested by nothing time for exercise and playing during school days. Besides, there was also kadang-kadang that tested my equilibrium while holding the two bamboo stilts, bahay-bahayan at the branches of the kawate trees and the battle between tops which are made of guava tree polished with sand paper. The cold river was the answer from the sweats we had from the excruciating sun heat while the tempting fruits of star apple tree standing alongside the river pervaded our stomach after the swims we had. Collecting kuhol in rice fields after the river bathe was also enjoyable because laughs and fun took place instead of idleness. Those games and experiences were really unforgettable causing me to miss those treasured moments. If there is a machine to bring me in the past, I would rather bring a video camera to let the kids nowadays see those blissful events of my life.

Department of Health (DOH) was alarmed because obesity cases are now starting to ravage the youth. Not just adults at present time are punctured by the deadly obesity, an abnormality to physical weight which is said to be deadly, but even elementary students are now at risk this time. DOH had disclosed to public that internet and getting addicted to some gadgets are some reasons of this result.

As years comes by, those native games and treasured experiences I had in past are sentenced by the technology to a guillotine death. And worst, the death is being disregarded by the children of this generation who yet not know that those games mark their being Filipino. The demise of those is near, but those jiffies of my childhood that were part of our culture have not given justice by the kids who are colonized and allured by today’s gadgets. The pikoand other games of my past are overlaid by cellphones, online games and other computer applications which are unhealthy. For high school students, counter strike, social networking sites and even the prohibited malefic porn videos are much preferable than enliven our own diversion. There is no artifice to save the games marking our history; except if every Filipino child will cheer-up and know its importance for practice. The feasibility of its death is unpredictable. Thus, even its status is benign or malignant; the key is the Filipino youth.

As they said, too much is harmful. Although computer applications based on studies are helpful in improving the children’s mathematical and logical ability, there should have an equitable time to be spent for this. Parents or guardians should be alert since physical health is not only the main issue, moral health of the children who get involved in porn viewing is terrifying so. There is a dearth of parental guidanceamong minors; that is why parents should be vigilant to the exploitations of their children.

Technology is helpful to us when it comes in globalization. But again, too much is harmful. We should maintain what are our choices in dealing with it. Let us not be abusive nor let it veil our pristine games. The salvage from death of our native games never depends on the fate set by someone; it is in the action that will enact by the youth which is in first place it is you.

Philippines under North Korea and South Korea conflict

We are surprised by the declaration of war of the communist North Korea against its mortal antagonist recently on April 12, 2013. It also alarmed United States arms, who then sent their warships in Korean peninsula after the declaration, to be alert since North Korea said that they will attack U.S. bases and Japan using their missiles.

United Nations (UN) condemned this war exhortation and followed by the entrapment of more than 800 South Koreans in North Korean border.

Based on some Filipinos residing in South Korea on an interview by the Philippine media, business transactions and establishments are still calmly operating. South Korea’s in situ was like there was no threat of terrorism. Even alert level one was asserted by the government of South Korea to the country, there no changes on the flow of everyday life there. For South Koreans, the menace was normal because on 2010, North Korea also declared war against them but nothing happened.

We, Filipinos, should not just be relaxed beyond this event since one of NoKor’s targets was United States of America. If America will be slew, Philippines will not be safeguarded since our forces in depending in Unites States’ aegis.

North Korea comprises more than one million militaries, with high-powered weapons and disastrous atomic bombs compared to us that still in the moss of classic time when it comes in military forces. It can be compared into a human and ant battle if the war will happen.

Philippines should also be alert on the great disaster that the war may bring. It would create great number of demise. We are so near in Korean peninsula and we are absolutely affected if ever the war will occur because this is the battle between nuclear powers, deadly and immensely disastrous.

We all know that North Korea and China are united because they have the same form of government which is communism. The issue of Baso de Masinloc or Kalayaan group of islands is not yet resolved. There is a possibility that Philippines may get involved in the war if China will force to procure the Scarborough Shoal and other islands from the Philippines.

The weather satellite of North Korea that have successfully launched through rocket few months ago, which was contrary to some countries, beside tracking the weather condition may have a concealed function which may be used on a warfare. It may be a machine that can control the missile trajectory from their base to the target area.

We all know that before the successful rocket launch, the first launching of the said weather satellite failed. The rocket debris fell in South Korea’s territorial seas. It might be a dramatic breakdown and just part of North Korea’s warfare plan.

Fallen debris might be controllable nuclear missiles that may assail SoKor territory if happen.

As I remember, Albert Einstein had once said that the World War IV may become the battle between sticks and stones; this simply said that the combat before WWIV which is WWIII will not leave anything sign of hope because it is a battle between high and ruinous atomic powers.

UN did not take any action, just condemning NoKor on every move they are doing—useless. One of the roles of UN is to conflict resolution, but it seems no assembly between its members on how to stop this catastrophe.

Not just South Koreans are to be harmed by the conflict; more than 14000 Filipinos will become war victims if so.

Contingency plan of the Philippines to repatriate Filipinos if the clash will persist is not fully reliable. We cannot predict if North Korea will first attack airports and seaports or not. Furthermore, more than 14000 Filipinos cannot be easily fetched by planes in just a single flight if the war will emerge. The contingency plan is not a good safety assurance. While there is no yet a true battle, Philippines must set a free flights—from Korea to Philippines—for a gradual but absolute way to put our citizens in safety.

The feasibility of war is unpredictable. Filipinos should be ready for the sentence of future war impasse. And for now, I am hoping that if war will procrastinate for twenty years we must set strong armors and weapons that will protect our country and its people without depending from others.

Chapter 3: His Repatriation

'LIFE? Anong silbi nito sa buhay ko? Why these are happening? Lahat na
yata ng problema ay kaakibat ng buhay na ito. I am a smart student
with honors during high school despite of financial scantiness, pero
ngayon ay nalubog ako sa pagiging waitress dito sa club. Nahinto ang
pag-aaral ko sa kolehiyo dahil sa pangyayaring iyon, 2 taon na ang
nakalipas. Nasagasaan si Mark Lougan, the true name of Jiro. Isang
artista ng pinakamalaking station sa bansa. He is stupid. Bakit nya
ako nilaglag? Saying that I am the reason why he was bumped. Ako ang
pinagbuntunan ng galit ng mga fans nya. Pati narin ng pamilya ng
driver na nakabangga sa kanya dahil nakulong ito. Kailangan kong
magtrabaho dito sa club, kasi kapag nasa-department store naman ako eh
kilalang kilala ako ng mga customer na ako yung kasama ni Mark during
the accident. Magagalit sila,' anang isip ni Mandi.

"Miss, dalawang beer pa nga," ani ng lalaking doon sa ikalawang
lamesa. Lasing na sila, pero sanay na si Mandi sa mga bagay na iyon.

"Yes, Sir. Pakihintay lang po, Sir. Saglit lang po," sagot nya rito.

Pasado alas 8:00am na. Kumuha sya ng beer sa loob. Pero napahinto sya
nang biglang nag-breaking news sa TV.

"Matapos ang dalawang taong pamamalagi at pagpapagaling sa states ay
dumating narin sa wakas si Mark Lougan. Lulan sya ng eroplanong
dumating kaninang 7:45pm sa NAIA air port," ani ng reporter sa TV.

Nangilid ang luha ni Mandi dahil balita.

"Pagkatapos ng dalawang taon nang nagsimulang nasira ang buhay ko,"
aniya na naiiyak. Pinatay nya ang TV bago pa nag-flash ang mukha ng
lalaki. Ayaw nyang balikan ang kahapon. Kapaitan ng kahapong hindi na
mapapatamis ng kailanman.

"Miss, yung beer namin," yung mamang umorder.

"Nariyan na po, Sir," agad nyang pinunasan ang mukha saka dinala ang beer doon.

PAGBABANG PAGBABA ni Mark ay nakahinga na rin sya ng maluwag.
"Sa wakas ay mababalikan ko na sya," aniya sa sarili. Hindi sya
nagpakita sa mga fans nya sa di malamang dahilan.

Umiba sila ng dinaanan upang maiwasan ang mga fans nyang naghihintay
sa labas. Lumabas sila, kasama ng kanyang mga guards, sa airport na
sakay ang itim na kotse. Di manlang nagpakita ng mukha ang lalaki.
Parang takot ito sa magiging reaksyon ng tao sa mukha nya.

"HOY, girl, mauna ka na. Ako na dito. Alam na alam kong pagod ka na at
birthday pa ng nanay mo. Umuwi ka na, mag-aalas nwebe na. Kailangang
makasama mo ang nanay mo ngayon lalo na't espesyal ang kaarawan nya,"
ani ng baklang manager ng club.

"Oo nga, Maj, eh. Yun rin sana yung hihingin kong pabor sayo," aniya rito.

"Oh sige," may inabot itong basket, "Dalhin mo na ito upang masorpresa
mo naman ang nanay mo."

"Maj, naman. Nag-alala ka pa," aniya.

"Harujusko. Sige na, layas na. Baka mamaya ay mapanis pa yang laman nyan."

"Maj, talaga oh. Oo nga pala, salamat ha? Sige mauna na ako, Maj.
Thank you, thank you, talaga ha?" aniya saka umalis.

ILANG taon ding hindi nakauwi si Mark ng Pilipinas. At ngayong
nakabalik na sya ay hahanapin nya ang taong sumigaw sa kanya sa
pangalang Jiro bago nawalan ng malay sa isang aksidente. Binabaybay
nila ang kalsada patungong rest house. Nauuna ang sasakyang lulan nya
at nakasunod sa likuran nila ang lima pang escort vehicles.

'Think how many years had passed when I had my greatest smile. The
smile which I never expected to come in the middle of our taping. I
will find you, the unknown person that is the reason why I came back
here in the Philippines,' anang isip ni Mark.

'Nagasgasan man ng isang aksidente ang career ko, alam kong there is
the best thing to come more that I have in past.'

Do 60-30-10 pattern really exist in Dumarao local election polls?

Disclaimer: This blog never support any of the political parties. I am just presenting my observation/calculation about the interesting pattern “60-30-10” also in Dumarao election tally.

Lex Muga revealed last month a controversial pattern waking the concern of the people, especially voters, all over the Philippines. The 60-30-10 pattern had opened the insights of the Filipinos, the same so with the mathematicians and statisticians, if the automated election last May 2013 had been cheated, or the manchines including the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS), were pre-programmed to vary or control the election results.

60-30-10 pattern correlated the percentage of the senatorial election votes. “60” means that 60% of votes was cast to Liberal Party (LP) bets, “3”0 means 30% of votes went to the opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) candidates and “10” means the rest 10% of votes counted for the independent runners and to those who belong to other parties.

It was disclosed by Parish Pastoral Coucil for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) that the pattern has no legal evidence to prove that the election polls were stained by conspiracy. The New York University professor, Michael Purugganan,, Ph. D., said that the pattern was just mathematics considering the Law of Large Numbers (see Wikipedia).

Apparently, the 60-30-10 pattern had also seen in Dumarao election results.

Now, I tried to calculate not for senatorial results this time but with the lower position which is Sangguniang Bayan of the lone-district of Capiz, Dumarao. The calculation goes with adding all the votes of the Sangguniang Bayan runners from Victor Tanco, Jr. in the 1st rank up to Jule Pelobello who is in last rank (results from Comelec data). So to calculate, there are exactly 90, 394 votes as total.

Chapter 2: The Accident

"MANDI, MANDI, MANDI..." makailang ulit na nyang kinatok ang ulo dahil
sa gulong nagawa. "Bakit pa kasi nagpaka-Superwoman ka doon sa di mo
inakalang isang taping pala?". She was like crazy, basa at nanghihina
na. "Wala manlang ni isang taong tumulong, nagsabi o... nagpaalam na,
oy Miss, nasa taping po tayo. Wala! Wala!" nagkibit balikat sya habang
sinabi ang wala. "Mga anak sila ni Janice! Grrr." Ang mga lumalabas na
sa kanyang bunganga nya ay tila wala nang koneksyon.
Umupo sya sa bench at doon ay nakita nya ang latang kanina ay sinipa
nya ng malakas. 90 degrees mula sa sarili at lata ay naroon ang isang

Enggggk. (O__..__O) Naging estatwa sya at awtomatikong lumingon sa
lalaki. "Yes, Sir? Ano po yun?" parang kenkoy na sabi nya.
"May nakita ka bang taong sumipa man lang ng latang to? O gumasgas
dito sa kotse ko?" anito. Hindi pala sya ang kinausap nito dahil
nakatalikod ito sa kanya habang pinagtatanungan ang babaeng napadaan
lang doon.
Di nya sinayang ang pagkakataon. Ang kaninang napakabagal, ngayon ay
parang dadaigin nya pa si Lydia de Vega. Kumaripas sya sa pagtakbo.
Pero nahagip parin sya ng mga paningin ni Jiro sa paglingon nito.
Hinabol sya nito.
"Tulong! Tulong! Tulong! Rapist, Whaaaaa (''O'') " sigaw nya.
"Hoy Miss, huminto ka? Wala akong masamang gagawin sayo" sigaw ni Jiro
habang hinahabol sya.
Huminto sya.
Huminto din si Jiro.
Humarap sya rito. "Takboooo!" sigaw nya nang hubarin ang heels dinala
nalang ito habang nasa animo'y marathon.
"Hoy, Miss, may importante lang akong sabihin sayo, hoy!" hinihingal
na sigaw nito.
"Ikaw yung may kasalanan, bakit ba kasi doon mo nilagay," lumanghap ng
hangin, "Yung kotse mo".
"Hindi ako galit sayo. Gusto ko lang mag-sorry sa---"
"Beep..." pagkatapos ng mahabang bosenang iyon lagapak ang kanyang narinig.
Huminto sya at lumingon sa humahabol sa kanya.
"Jiro?" hindi maguhit ang naging reaksyon nya. (O,O) Kitang-kita nya
kung paano hagipin si Jiro ng trailer truck. Walang syang nagawa kundi
mapasigaw nalang na "Jiro.....".

Chapter 1: Ang Artista kong Mahal

KATATAPOS lang ni Manding mag-take ng exam. At ngayon, naglalakad sya
sa kalsada. Paano eh, walang syang pamasahe ng jeep. Naiinis sya dahil
sa kawalan ng pera. Mahirap lang kasi sila. Bukod sa pinarurusahan ang
kanyang mga paa eh mukhang mamalasin pa yata ang score nya sa exam.

"Math! Math! Math! Nakakainis ka!" sigaw nya na parang may sayad sa
ulo. Nahirapan kasi sya doon sa Math na t-in-ake nya. Wala syang
pakialam sa mga reaksyon ng mga tao sa paligid ukol sa kanyang
inaasal kahit mukha na syang baliw.

May nakita syang lata ng softdrinks. Sinipa nya iyon at tumama sa
sasakyang nakaparada sa harap ng isang establishimento upang mabawasan
ang kinikimkim na inis. 'Bakit ba kasi ang malas-malas mo Mandi?',
anang kanyang isip sa sarili habang tinatanaw ang langit. Parang syang
naghihintay na pagbuksan nito upang tuparin ang kanyang mga pangarap.

Biglang kumulog at umulan. Natamaan ang kanyang mukha ng patak mula sa
langit. 'Isa nanamang kamalasan. Wala akong dalang payong.' Sa halip
na madagdagan nanaman ang kanyang inis ay in-enjoy nalang nya ang tila

Nais nyang mauna upang mapanood ito ng malinaw.

"Hindi na kita mahal, Jiro," anang babae doon sa lalaking kaharap nya,

mabait at, ah basta" aniya nang wala nang mahanap na adjective.

"Awatin nyo!" may narinig syang isang sigaw. Kasunod noon ang paglapit
sa kanya ng dalawang lalaking nakaitim. "Wag nyo akong awatin! At sino
kayong dalawa? Wag nyo---" napahinto sya sa pagsasalita nang nakita
ang cameraman na tumatawa. Huminto sya sa pagpupumiglas.

"Cut?" ngayon lang nag-process sa kanyang isip kung ano 'cut' na
kanyang narinig kanina. "Oh my ghosh" mahinang sabi nya.

"Manong, nasa taping ba kayo?" tanong nya sa taong umaawat sa kanya.

"Yes miss, nasa taping po kami," sabi ni Jiro.

"Taping?"

Walang ka-alam-alam si Mandi na nanghimasok na pala sya sa isang
taping. Hindi nya alam na mga artista ang kanyang kaharap at ang ulan
na tumitila ay bahagi ng pala ng taping.
Parang madudurog sya sa mga matang nakatutok sa kanyang sarili. Hindi
sya makagalaw. Hiyang-hiya sya. Tumahimik ang lahat.
Hinarap nya ang direktor at makailang ulit na humingi ng patawad.
"Patawad po, Sir. Patawad po talaga." Nag-vow sya ng makailang ulit.
Hinarap nya ang dalawang artista. "Patawad po Mr. Jiro. Patawad po Ms.
Janine. Mauna na po ako."

'Kakahiya ka talaga, Mandi! Ano ba yan,' sisi nya sa sarili.
Hinay-hinay syang tumakbo papalayo na parang isang yelong iniihaw.

Police in school: Ineffective to fight bullying cases

School bullying is a common problem of every school around the globe.

Report said that one out of ten students is a victim of school

bullies. The most alarming news that staggered me a lot is that it

sometimes leads to suicide if it is not given an action.

Physical and emotional assaults are the types of bullying that

sometimes experiencing by some. Few months ago, the Bontog Elementary

School grader bullying story happened in Dumalag, Capiz put the victim

to death at the age of seven. Years ago, Sen. Edgardo Angara's son

also died after bullied by his classmates.

Arguments if the school administration would allow police assistance

in minimizing bullying cases in school had been insisted by some; and

this had created a big explosion to my own ego. Police assistance in

school? This is a hornet-bite to me, digging the freedom of every

student. If the school administration would allow the assistance, then

this would create a big scandal, bigger than the bullying itself.

Yes, the duty of our policemen is to protect the society, but

protecting students in school overlaps the duty of a teachers. If the

concern is the capability of the teacher to protect his students,

seminar should take place. School should implement a strong bullying

disciplinary action and values education should also take place to

betterly fight its ascending cases.

If those are not effective, then hire more security guards but do not

ask for the help of police officers.

If the latter is useless, then this is the time to close the school

since the administration, teachers and even parents may have ignorance

in giving right discipline to their students or children.

Department of Education (DepEd) is different from the Philippine

National Police (PNP). These are the departments which have different

obligation in the country, different count of funds set by the

government and different professions are involved. Let all things

straight. Policemen should safeguard the community and the teachers

Dec. 21 Doomsday Prediction: A Hoax

Doomsday, an impasse, is a frightening day for humanity. No one among the creatures can accurately say its imminence, only God Himself (Matthew 24:36). For Muslims, the second blow of horn will lead to an end.

But through human intelligence, some people had predicted its exact time, but it was just a tantalization. More than ten predictions had been formulated but it all led to failure. The latest prediction is “The December 21, 2012 Apocalypse” which came from a chip of idea in the internet, enhanced by the netizens and articulated with a fallacious conclusion.

Some calculated the statement in the Bible at Revelation 8:1, some interpreted the end of Mayan calendar; some analyzed the song of a Korean rapper, Psy; some turned their eyes to Michel ‘Nostradamus’ de Nostradame’s “Les Propheties”; and some formulated a planetary alignment to find out the exact coming of the apocalypse. And the date December 21, 2012 had been revealed.

Because of the ‘information superhighway’, rapid spread of those rumors about 12-21-2012 apocalypse through social networking sites staggered some from their in situ.

Twitter had a flooded doomsday tweets, some religious organizations have their own version of their salvation and some had been in insanity when they put their selves into a useless preparation with their own doomsday emergency kit.

When December 21, 2012 came, nothing happened; only those funny reactions of Twitter users who attached a hashtag #DoomsdayConfession on their tweets. The hashtag also lifted to trending. Ridiculous news were also aired, that some were arrested for spreading their own insight about salvation.

Miscalculation, misinterpretation, false analysis, misleading information and the nonsense arguments of doomsday rumors led us into a colossal futile spite.

The hoax had left a lesson to the doomsday believers that contemplation before a panic action is better than the vice versa. After December 21, the proponents of those bruits were put into an apologetic silence for making a disastrous epidemic of wrong information among the people of the world.

Doomsday preppers are calaboose of their own belief, lacking of constancy and like a chameleon — adapting the colorful idea of other without contemplation. Their faith is blurring, an idler and an impediment of our progress.

“If you are spiritually clean, why be afraid to the end of the world?” a good question we have received during our fourth year. If a lot of person are afraid for the end of the world. Then this is a horrifying instance that many of us have an impoverished spiritual formation.

We are blinded by the hoax of bright idea coming from the persons with a dull wisdom. We are nigh to the wrong trend. We are tamed by the technologies of the world. We are the suspects and victims of our own wrong predicted predicaments. We are changing.

Instead of thinking about the end of the world, just take everyday life into the fullest. Be optimistic, every second is a blessing. Be impartial. Dream. You have a purpose. Take in mind that the true doomsday is that when you lose the game of your life, game of making happiness to your family, friends and to the whole people of the world. Isang araw noon, di ko matandaan ang petsa, ewan ko kung bakit pumasok sa isip kong ilakad ang sariling paa patungong Our Lady of the Snows Institute. Basta, mag-te-take daw ng entrance exam. Fresh graduate ako sa elementarya. Tama, elementaryang punong-puno ng katatawanan at iyakan ni Bea at Queen Ann. Balik tayo sa pag-te-take ko ng exam. Pumasok ako ng school, assorted ang mga mukha. Bumungad nanaman sa mata ko ang Arabo DAW. Na kasama ang tiyahin DAW. Na valedictorian ng paaralang elementarya ng San Juan DAW. Na nakilala sa Boy Scout nila DAW habang papunta akong room namin noong Grade 6 (nag-graduate ako ng elementary sa paaralan ding iyon). DAW ang lahat ng naging dulo ng bawat pangungusap na binibitawan ng mga --- ano tawag do'n? --- ah basta, TSISMOSA kung sa sariling bersyon ng isang batang 7 years old ng Tondo.

Maraming mga mukha. Mga estudyante, guro at maging mga NANAY ng ibang examinee. Dinadalhan sila ng juice, pinapaypayan at kinukumusta. Ewan ko kung bakit tingin ko noon sa sarili ko ay nasa isang disyerto. Hindi dahil sa naghahanap din ako ng juice ng kagaya ng sa kanila, pero sa tingin ko ay isa akong uhaw sa presensya ng magulang sa bawat yapak ko sa pagbuo ng aking pangarap.

Lumabas ako ng gate. Naglakad. Tumakbo. Hiningal. Nagpatuloy hanggang marating ang crossing papuntang papuntang Tamulalod (barangay namin). Naghintay. Umupo. Tumayo. Umupo. Tumayo. Umupo. Tumayo. Puppy love, nagtutunog aso. Pero lingid sa kaalaman ng iba, ito ay tila isang nakakahawang sakit sa school campus ng OLSI noong hayskul kami. Hindi ito mapigilan ng kahit anomang gamot, hindi ito made-detect ng kahit anomang thermoscanner at higit sa lahat, hindi ito basta-basta malalaman ng awtoridad ng campus. Naubos ang mga baon ng iba sa kababayad doon sa nagsisilbing tagabasa ng letter sa mic. Bale sa limampiso mo, maririnig na ng lahat ng estudyante ang anomang gusto mong sabihin. Sigawan, tilian at kilig ang pumapaibabaw ng mga panahong iyon.

Napakabilis ng panahon sa pagdating ng recognition day at tila nga't still on ang virus ng puppy love. Pero ano paman ang iisipin ng iba, parte iyon ng "growth and development" ng isang bata.
