Capiz town launches Padagyaw 2013

DUMARAO, Capiz —Dumarao, Capiz launched its 5-day annual festivity, known as Padagyaw, on August 1, 2013. The celebration was held in honor to patron of the town, Our Lady of the Snows.

In the morning, there were grand parade and street dancing competition with 10 participating sectors.
The event was attended by several personages including Capiz governor Victor Tanco, Sr., and Zaldy Caalam, elementary schools district supervisor of the province of Capiz.

In the afternoon, there was a playground demonstration with 7 participating schools including Capiz State University, Dumarao campus; EstefaniaMontemayor National High School, PresentacionDiez-Gregorio National High School, Bungsuan National High School, Ramon Benjamin Memorial National High School, Manuel F. Onato Memorial National High School and the Our Lady of the Snows Institute.

Street dancing competition awarded Sector 9 as Best in Choreography, Sector 5 as Best in Costume and Props and Sector 2 as Best in Performance while the result for the playground demonstration was not yet announced.

On a message given by Mayor Leslie Warren Benjamin, he said that the playground demonstration had a big contribution among the Dumaraonon not to forget the culture of the town.
