SK pres, one in would-be voters failed to reg for barangay elections

DUMARAO, Capiz — Dumarao SK Federation President Ammie Therese Malones defined herself as "useless" on July 31, 2013 at the front of Dumarao Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office after lately arrived, and failed to register, for the last hour registration deadline of the forthcoming barangay elections.

"Ka-useless gid sa akon (I'm so useless)," she blamely said to herself.

Meanwhile, more or less a hundred Dumaraonon irate voter turnout did not beat the COMELEC 5pm deadline.

"Kagina pa kaming nga aga di (we are here early this morning until now [but we are not accommodated]), tapos waay malang gali (at the end, nothing happened)," exclaimed an old woman who was in a long pile of would-be voters.

About 3:30pm when Clemelin Gregorio, Dumarao COMELEC personnel, declared not to accommodate would-be voters who were not 18 years old nor SK registrants. This was prior to the COMELEC Resolution 9750 saying first-time voters should be prioritized.

COMELEC Commissioner Sixto Brillantes declared no more extension to the deadline. People who were not registered this year will wait 3 more years for another chance.
