Padagyaw 2016 Kicks Off

The municipality of Dumarao has officially opened its annual 5-day religious and municipal fiesta celebration with Padagyaw Festival, August 1.
The celebration kicked-off with parade and and opening salvo.
Nine participating schools from different elementary, secondary and tertiary schools in the municipality namely Immaculate Heart of Mary Child Learning Center, Manuel F. Onato Memorial National High School, Capiz State University – Dumarao, Ramon Benjamin Memorial National High School, Presentacion Diez-Gregorio National High School, Our Lady of the Snows Institute, Estefania Montemayor National High School and Bungsuan National High School had prepared their performances for Playground Demonstration which started 11am until 1pm.


In an Opening Remarks, Municipal Mayor Edgar Arancillo said that despite hardships, trials and obstacles, Dumaraonons were able to succeed and to win.
This year’s theme is “Padagyaw Sang Pagkaluoy Para sa Padayon Nga Pagbag-o”.
Leslie Warren Benjamin, Municipal Vice-Mayor, said that this year’s theme highlights three important words: Padagyaw, Kaluoy and Pagbag-o. Thus every Dumaraonon should live with mercy for camaraderie and help for others without expecting any return.
The composition of Dumarao Hymn was also heard as it was first sang to the public by Dumarao Municipal Choir.
Dumarao Local Government Unit also released balloons and pigeons as symbols of freedom – financial freedom and freedom from criminality♦ More photos here.
