Fable: The Abused Mercy

1:32 AM

The summer ended. As the rainy season begun, the bees who reside in the tallest Balete tree in the middle of forest have abundant honey they collected from the flower field in the nearby flower farm. They have enough food for the rainy season. But even they have abundant of honey, they still continued working for it because they consider it as a gift in their everyday life.

One day, the leader of the Worker Bees told the Queen Bee if where they could bring the spare honeys.

“My dearest, Mother Bee,” he said. “We have so enough honey but we do not want to waste the superfluous nectars in the field. All of our storage gallons were already filled. What will we do?”

The Queen Bee paused and thinks of a solution. From the top of the tree, she looked out from the window and observed other insects below her colony. From above, she saw the different kinds of insects and realized they need help.

She saw Mr. Spidey Spider. She was pitied to Mr. Spidey Spider because before he got his meal every day he needs to weave his web through the night. She realized his meals were not as delicious as she had. Mr. Spidey Spider also cannot take his meal for a day when a big leaf falls and ruins his web. She wants to help Mr. Spidey Spider!

Few meters away from Mr. Spidey Spider, Queen Bee also saw the community of ants of Mr. Anton the Ant. Anton the Ant was the community leader of their ant colony. His colony was recently smashed by the fallen big trunk. Sadly, they do not have food and they are so weak to restore their damaged colony. So, the Queen Bee said they deserved her help!

Few meters away, the Queen Bee saw Beam the Butterfly. Beam the butterfly have a very wide wing but so petite. She cannot fly as far as the worker bees can reach. Since she had very large wings, it is dangerous for her to flap it especially when there were strong winds. Consequently, she was just contented of the bitter nectars in the forest for her to survive. The Queen Bee decided to help Beam the Butterfly!

“Bring all the excess honeys to other insects in the forest!” Queen Bee ordered.

The worker bees immediately brought all the excess honey to Mr. Spidey Spider, to the colony of Mr. Anton the Ant, to Beam the Buttefly and to all the insects in the forest. All of them were happy as they received the sweetest and nutritious food they tasted in their whole life. Because of the priceless happiness they bestowed, the Queen Bee was happy and told the Worker Bees to serve them fresh honeys for the rest of their life.

Every day, the Worker Bees delivered honey to Mr. Spidey Spider, to the colony of Mr. Anton the Ant, to Beam the Butterfly and to the rest of the insects. The Worker Bees knew how they were blessed with strong wings to be able to search for the sweetest food—unlike with other insects which only have very limited capabilities. But as the day passed, the sweet honey turned the other insects to manifest bitter attitudes.

“Mr. Spidey Spider! Mr. Spidey Spider!,” one of the worker bee shouted. He was waking Mr. Spidey Spider to tell that the honey for his breakfast is already on serve. Mr. Spidey Spider gradually opened his eyes and again go back to his tight sleep when saw the Worker Bees.

“Just hang it there in my web,” Mr. Spidey Spider lazily replied.

The group of Worker Bees was disappointed of Mr. Spidey Spider but they understand him for what he had done. They were always be the patient bees who will never show any hostile response that would disappoint their fellow insects.

The Worker Bees left Mr. Spidey the Spider without any retort of gratitude for them. They continued to the colony of Mr. Anton the Ant and saw the pathetic situation of their damaged abode. They felt sad. It was been a week since Mr. Anton the Ant’s place was smashed by a big trunk. There is no sign of any resiliency. There is even none makeshift houses built and it seems they became dependent to what the Worker Bees rationed. They immediately left the place after they dropped the food as clamors from the ant community also uproared above.

The Worker Bees then went to Beam the Butterfly. They saw Beam the Butterfly’s wings glowing. Her body also gained weight. For the Worker Bees, there is nothing more happiness than seeing the insect they are serving improved. But Beam the Butterfly appears to be uncontended of what she daily received.

“To the Worker Bees, your honeys were not enough to sustain my food every day,” Beam the Butterfly said. “Please send me a more delicious honey which came from the well-grown flower trees in the mountain.”

The Worker Bees felt a bit disappointed but it never stopped them to serve the other insects. What is important to them is the order of the Queen Bee and to give happiness to their fellow insects. They continued serving other insects in the forest but the attitude they encountered had nothing difference.

One day, the hunters entered the forest. All of the insects panicked as the threat to their existence are about to end their life. The poor insects begged that they will be freed from the wrath of human hunters until their litanies were answered when the human hunters saw the great honeycomb above. The hunters planned to catch it for gallons for honey by starting a smoke.

“Their target is only the bees!” shouted Mr. Spidey the Spider.

All of the insects were happy about their safety while the bees above started to startle and hover out from their shelter as the heavy smoke was about to abate their colony. Nothing of the insects helped the bees.

The Queen Bee commanded all of the Worker Bees to left the area immediately as the fire made by the hunters was about to raze the forest.

The fire then started to spread, making all of the insects get rattled.

Mr. Spidey the Spider was scorched by fire as his web was frail and located in the lower tree.

Anton the Ants and his community were burned because until that time, they did not yet dug their shelter below the ground.

Beam the Butterfly was suffocated to death because her heavy weight compromised her ability to fly above the forest’s canopy.

The bees had their habitat in the new lush forest while the other surviving insects died of hunger while waiting the bees to come again for them to serve them delicious honeys.
